Cookies Policy

This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies used on standbased.com, what each one is for, how long it lasts and how to turn it off. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains what we do with personal data more generally.
It is published by StandBased Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 17361238, whose registered office is at 4 Dorchester Drive, Muxton, Telford, Shropshire, TF2 8SR.
1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your device, so it can recognise the browser on a later visit. Several other technologies do a similar job and we treat them the same way in this policy:
- Local storage keeps information in your browser until something clears it.
- Session storage does the same, but is wiped as soon as you close the tab.
- Tracking scripts and pixels can record that a page was viewed without storing anything on your device at all.
Where this policy says "cookie", it means all of these unless it says otherwise.
2. Your choice, and how we ask for it
The first time you visit, a banner asks what you are willing to allow. Nothing in the analytics or marketing categories below runs until you say yes. If you refuse, or simply never answer, they are never loaded — we do not treat carrying on browsing as agreement, and there is no "X" that quietly counts as a yes.
Refusing is exactly as easy as accepting: "Reject all" sits next to "Accept all" on the banner itself, one click each. "Manage" lets you allow one category and refuse the other, and both start switched off.
You can change your mind at any time, from any page, using the Cookie Preferences link in the footer. That reopens the same panel. Turning a category off does not just stop future collection — we disable the tracker there and then and delete the cookies it already set, without you needing to reload.
Your choice is remembered in your browser under sb_consent, along with the date you made it, so we can show that consent was given and when. If we add a new tracker or a new category, that record stops being valid and we ask you again, because agreeing to the old list is not agreeing to the new one.
3. The categories we use
Strictly necessary cookies are needed for the site to work — keeping you signed in, remembering settings, and protecting the site from attack and automated abuse. The law does not require your consent for these, and the site cannot be provided without them.
Analytics cookies tell us how many people visit, which pages they read and how they arrived, so we can improve the site. They are not strictly necessary.
Marketing and attribution storage records where an enquiry came from, so that we can credit a referral correctly. It is not strictly necessary.
We do not use advertising cookies, we do not run retargeting or ad networks on this site, and we do not sell or share what we collect for anyone else's advertising.

We have IP anonymisation on and we do not use Analytics data to try to identify individuals. We keep Analytics data for 14 months. Google acts as our processor for it; see our Privacy Policy for where that data goes.

4.4 Measurement that sets nothing on your device
We use Metricool to measure how our content and social marketing perform. Its script does not set a cookie and does not store anything on your device or give you an identifier. It reports the page viewed and derives an approximate country from your IP address, which Metricool does not retain, and it produces anonymous, aggregated visit counts only. We list it here because you should know it is running, not because it stores anything.
5. Other ways to control cookies
The Cookie Preferences link in the footer is the simplest route, and it covers everything on this site. These work too, and do not depend on us:
- In your browser. Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies and clear site storage, usually under Settings, then Privacy. The ICO's guide for the public explains how, browser by browser.
- Google Analytics, across every site. Install Google's browser opt-out add-on.
- Referral attribution. Clearing your browser's site data for standbased.com removes the
sb_refentry, and it expires by itself after 30 days. - Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. If your browser sends one of these signals, we do not override it with a contrary setting of our own.
Refusing costs you nothing. Every page, product detail and price on standbased.com is available whether you accept cookies or refuse them — we do not put content behind a cookie wall. The only thing you may notice is being asked to pass a security check again if you clear the strictly necessary cookies.
6. Cookies on club apps and club websites
This policy covers standbased.com only. Football club websites and apps built on StandBased are operated by the club, which decides what runs on them — a club may add its own analytics, ticketing, streaming or advertising tags. Those are set under the club's control and the club's own cookie notice applies. If you are not sure who is responsible for a cookie you have found, ask us and we will tell you.
7. Changes to this policy
We update this policy whenever we add, remove or change a script that sets something on your device. The date it was last changed is shown at the top of this page.
